Welcome!

So, hey, we’re getting married and you know about it and you know at least one of us! That’s cool.

Leading up to the wedding we’ll publish any informational updates about the wedding, pictures of us, registry updates, etc. to this site.

In case you didn’t notice them at the top of the page, here are some quick links around the site:

  • Want to find something to do when you’re not hanging out with us at the wedding/reception? Head to “Things to do“.
  • Want to get us something? Thanks! Pop over to “Registries“.
  • Can’t get enough of Sarah and me, and want to see more of us? D’awwwww, shucks, thanks 🙂 We’ll see you at the wedding, but in the meantime, check out some pictures we’ve uploaded on the “Photos” page.
  • Would you like to RSVP quickly and conveniently after having received an invite? Hit us up at “RSVP“.

Can’t wait to have you with us on our special, nay, AMAZING, wedding day!

Wedding Party Photos

One of the best ways to remember a wedding is through the many photos taking during the ceremony, reception and other events. Sarah and I have hired a fantastic wedding photographer, John Larkin, to chronicle our big day, and we’ll be sharing all of those photos here. Since we have hired such a great photographer, we’d like to strongly request that all cameras, camera phones, daguerrotype machines, and watercolor canvases be kept in your purse or pocket during the ceremony! John and his second shooter will have us amply covered during that event and anyone else trying to take a shot may get in their way.

While we’d appreciate everyone staying aware of the photographers during the reception and helping them do their jobs, we also know how many great shots come about from friends and family having fun together when no one else is looking! To that end, we’d like to try and capture as many photos taken by others during the reception and other events as possible. We’ve set up an account with Wedding Party, a fantastic company that provides a mobile app for iOS and Android, as well as a mobile enabled website. If you use the app to take photos during your visit for the wedding, it will automatically share them with everyone else that has joined the wedding event! You can also manually upload photos using the app or website before or after the wedding.

If you’d be willing to help us to share your memories as well as ours, please check out the Wedding Party apps (Android, iOS) and website (link). You can get them installed and then join our wedding event using the wedding event code:

The Proposal

The Decision

Every proposal plan starts with the same thing… a decision to do it! Sarah and I grew very close over the ’14/’15 winter. We spent more and more time in each other’s company with the sole exception of Christmas, when we were apart for several weeks due to competing family visits. It was over the course of that break that it really settled in for me that I wanted to be with Sarah for the rest of my life. I grew moderately anxious that when I got back to Rochester from the family home in NJ, that Sarah wouldn’t feel as strongly, and that it would all come crashing down for me.

That was silly. I got home, reconnected with Sarah and realized that she felt just as strongly for me as I did for her. So I started planning. 🙂

How It All Started: Sarah’s POV

The short version for now until I write up a longer one: I was using OkCupid because as a farmer and an introvert, I wasn’t going to meet a lot of potential dates during everyday life.  During the winter/spring of 2014 I was going on some “first dates” with a couple guys, but nothing special was happening.  Only with one man did I get a chance to relax and enjoy the dates because he could carry an intelligent conversation and make me laugh, but he took forever to respond to online messages or texts, so I was sure he wasn’t interested in me, and with how busy he was with work and friends, I was pretty sure he wasn’t serious looking then anyway.

How it all started (from Matt’s perspective)

I’d been using OkCupid for a few years by January 2014, which is when Sarah first contacted me. While I’d had some success on the site, January brought some interesting professional times for me, and I went into a bit of a lurker mode, not looking for or expecting anyone.

When she first reached out, I… *hangs head*… took a month to get back to her. Then another month to respond to the first response!

It was a busy time for me. My employer, Cynergy, had just been bought by my current employer, KPMG. As someone moderately high on the responsibility food chain, I had a decent amount on my plate. But as Sarah once said to me in those early days, “you make time for what matters”. I only wish I’d done so sooner!
